As a photographer and an individual from an indigenous community, I feel the paramount importance to preserve our rich tapestry of cultural heritage, wisdom and traditional practices in the form of photographs. I believe that these photographs serves as a museum of human history and visual story telling, like these above images which represents the town aesthetics of Tamenglong district, Manipur, NE India. To us, these are scenes from our towns and villages which gives us a sense of utter familiarity and nostalgia which we always long for. And the moms, women from the photographs represents all our mothers and parents who do the most for us at home so that we can pursue our dreams and careers in the big cities. And it is always in my heart and my best interest to represent them in the broader art world.
